ELEMENTS OF ICT INTEGRATION IN EDUCATION

MEANING OF ICT:
"Information"- Any communication or representation of knowledge such as facts, data in any medium including textual, numerical, graphic cartographic, narrative or audio-visual forms. "Technology" is the practical form of scientific knowledge or the science of application of knowledge or practical.
 
DEFINITION OF ICT:
ICT stands for Information and Communication technology. ICT defined as a "diverse set of technology tools and resources used to communicate and to create, disseminate store and manage information".
SCOPE OF ICT IN EDUCATION:

ICT TOOLS: 
TEACHER:
A teacher should understand the characteristics of ICT, and possible to facilitate learner's learning activities with ICT. Teacher should have pedagogical content knowledge and apply new knowledge in practice. Every teachers should have pedagogical attitude.

ROLE OF A TEACHER IN ICT:
ICT helps teachers to interact with students.It helps them in preparation their teaching, provide feedback. It also helps in effective use of ICT software and hardware for teaching-learning process. It helps in improve teaching skill, helps in innovative teaching.

LEARNER:
Use of information resources with critical and collaborative manner with other people for better learning. There are 4C's in learning they are creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking.
Creativity is trying new approaches to get things done equals innovation and invention.
Communication means sharing thoughts, questions, ideas and solution.
Collaboration means working together to reach goal, putting talent, expertise and smart work.
Critical thinking means working at problems in new way and linking learning across subjects and disciplines.
EDUCATIONAL POLICY: 
    ICT in educational policy is based on several key elements that underpin the use of ICT's. These incluse Teaching  and learning, Management and administration, Access to information and communication.

IMPORTANCE:
ICT in education improves engagement and knowledge retention. When ICT is integrated into lessons, students become more engaged into their work. This is because technology provides different opportunities to make it more fun and enjoyable in terms of teaching the same things in different ways. 

EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION SERVICE:   
    The Networked service system for helping communication between teacher and learner, and then assisting the utilization of educational contents.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
    The Information and Communication teachnologies infrastructure is a key element in many organizations. This infrastructure is composed by a set of hardware, software, services, processes and contents. This facilities are required to teachers and learners for teaching-learning process.

APPROACHES OF ICT IN CLASSROOM:
     ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning interaction, through such as approaches as replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students' own smartphones or other devices for learning during class time, and the “flipped classroom" model where students watch lectures.

ADVANTAGES:
    Speed/time and money can be saved because it is much quicker to send/share information around. Communication is more efficient to contact either business partners or friends and family members all over the world. ICT expands availability for communications.
DISADVANTAGES:
  • Misleading and misguiding information.
  • Risk of cyber attacks and hacks.
  • A risk to the traditional book and handwriting methods.
  • Implementing computers and the internet for ICT replace the convention education curriculums.
  • Managing courses online is difficult.
